Tales from the dark side of Victor 3 - Ross Miller

Ross Miller served in Vietnam as a platoon commander with V3 Company, 4RAR/NZ (ANZAC) Battalion.

A soldier for twenty years, he joined the army in 1961 straight from school. In 1965 he spent a year at officer training school in Australia before joining 1RNZIR at Terendak, Malaysia in November 1966. A year later he was told he'd be going to be Vietnam as a platoon commander with V3 Company. After a period of intense training in Malaysia, the 23-year-old landed at Vung Tau in March 1968. He was deployed back to New Zealand nine months later (to his disappointment), having completed the maximum two-years of overseas service allowed under New Zealand army regulations at the time.
