My name is Terence John Farrell. I enlisted in the Royal New Zealand Artillery in 1967 and did one tour to Vietnam during 1968-1969.
I was wounded on 20 August 1970.
I had joined the army as a Tankie and later transferred to 161 Battery for an overseas tour in South Vietnam, 12 months in country.
While 161 Battery was in South Vietnam one of the best chess players was Sergeant Heta Tobin, (Ngapuhi). As a chess player, Heta was brilliant, and his reputation was well known.
