Duch born naturalised NZ citizen. Arrived in NZ aged 4 along with parents in 1952. Grown up as a kiwi. Married good southern girl;two children (one of each) ;three grandchildren to date.
Medical Laboratory Scientist by training. Joined NZ Surgical Team in Qui Nhon for tour of duty in 1972,having been granted leave of absence from Wairau Hospital Laboratory in Blenheim. Returned to Wairau after being refused permission to extend stay in Qui Nhon(deemed unsafe to bring over families at that time). Resigned from Wairau to spend 3 years at Salvation Army mission hospital in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) 1975 -78.during guerrilla war against Ian Smith's rebel regime.
Returned to Wairau Hospital lab as 2ic then later as Charge Scientist till redundancy in 2000. Six years as Lab Manager for Medlab South's new Blenheim site, now a semi-retired phlebotomist for Redwoodtown Medical Practice and part-time sculptor at Forrest Estate Vineyard at Renwick. It's been a good life.
