I am a Registered Nurse, ex TF/RF, taking the plunge and starting my masters’ degree in nursing. Looking at doing my thesis in "the future role of the Army Nurse". (For this I have the support and permission of the current Director of Nursing Services), however have a few papers to get through first. At the moment I'm doing a nursing history paper (followed by a leadership paper), and am looking at the NZ Army nurses who served in Vietnam in uniform. This is an area that interests me as there may be many similarities in how we send our nurses off to serve with multinational hospital in Afghanistan etc today, and hopefully the "Vietnam nurses can give us a few "lessons learned!"
Personal info: Married to a G list Medical Officer - whom I meet in East Timor!!(He's currently at Army General Staff), have two beautiful boys - 2 and 5. Have enjoyed a varied nursing career so far - was the first Comprehensive Nursing student to be place and work post graduating in the (now closed) National Secure Unit (forensic unit),have nursed in Texas, Ayr - Australia, and both private and public hospitals in NZ. Have had the privileged of meeting lots of interesting people who allow us (nurses) a glimpse into their lives.
