Commander of the New Zealand Army Force in South-East Asia, 1964–1966. First flight into Vietnam was 29 June 1964 with advance party of NEWZAD and Lieutenant Colonel William Foley to establish HQ V Force. He spent eight days in Saigon and area with US and Vietnamese staff setting up logistic and support arrangements.
