Served with 161 Battery in Vietnam 1966–1967 as a Gun Number on Number 6 Gun. He then did a tour in Malaysia and Singapore with 1RNZIR and while there was posted to V3 Company in Vietnam as a Reinforcement. Stayed on with 2 Platoon V4 Company as a scout before being posted to W2 Company for return to 1RNZIR in November 1969.
