Volunteered for service in Vietnam with the New Zealand Army two years after graduating MB ChB (1967) – spent four months with the NZSMT in Bong Son (January-April 1970) before completing a short medical inspection tour in Northern Thailand. Relocated to England and worked in London as a Consultant in the NHS until retiring in 2007.
