Trevor served with the NZ Regt 1963–1965 and 1RNZIR from April 1964. Bandmaster Les Mooney had inherited a full Drum Corps of over 12 drummers from the previous Bandmaster WO2 Jim Carson. Trevor was an enthusiastic member of the Drum Corps and accompanied the battalion band to Sarawak for four months from July 1965. He also served in HQ NZ Force Vietnam and was present at the 1RNZIR Band concert on the roof of the Free World Military Headquarters building on 1 November 1969. This concert was followed by a famous party at the nine-story Military Police HQ in the Cholon District of Saigon, which was destroyed by enemy mortar fire the following night.
