Surgeon and New Zealand Civilian Surgical Team leader, March 1967–February 1968.
After his return from Vietnam he returned to his position of Medical Superintendent of the Dannevirke hospital. In 1970 he moved to Gisborne and served as general surgeon until his retirement from surgery in 1978. He then took up the position of health education officer at Napier hospital.
In 1968, he wrote an unpublished book detailing the work of the New Zealand Surgical Team in Vietnam. Read a copy here (PDF).* Another book, Letters from a Viet Nam Hospital, was published in 1969.
