Gunner Paul Barry Campion, RNZA served overseas in Vietnam with 161 Battery from 6 May 1969 to 10 September 1970, and again with 1NZATTV from 22 July 1972 to 22 December 1972. Between these two deployments, he was actually discharged (completion of engagement) and then re-enlisted on 8 June 1971.

Campion was admitted to the 1st Australian Field Hospital in Vung Tau on 29 August 1970 after suffering blast trauma to left shoulder and ear in an APC mine incident and was discharged after his return to New Zealand in September 1970.

He returned to New Zealand from his second tour in December 1972, and discharged on completion of his engagement.
