Lead guitar in Māori Te Kiwis showband in Vietnam 28 January to 31 July 1968 based in Saigon. Now living in Australia. Medals were presented to his brother (Maurice Watene) on 20 July 2016 at Government house Auckland by HE Lieutenant General Sir Jerry Mateparae.
