Gilbert was a member of the Maori Volcanics showband that first toured in Vietnam 5 January to 20 June 1967 based in Da Nang, and 15 August to 10 October 1967, then again March to September 1968 based in Saigon. No contact has yet been made with Gilbert or his family.
