if you look at the x2 TAIREA - you will see you have named them both as Tairea-!!

Hi Roscoe, thanks for this. I have contacted Jack Hayes who compiled the roll and he says the following:
'Roscoe is partly correct. He cannot see the dates of birth but we can and that identifies clearly that these are two separate men.
A search of the NZDF database shows the following:
42420 Pte Tairea Tairea, RNZIR DOB (1.10.1943) served in V4.
731184 Pte Tinokura (aka John) Tairea , RNZIR DOB (19.10.1948) served in V6.
The name as given by Roscoe is not as recorded in the NZDF Database – ‘John’ is only used in later correspondence and his terminal dental files – his Personal files (PF, DPF and UPF) all list him as Tinokura Tairea. '
