Served as William Howard Patrick Williams but later changed name to Boxee Hetariki Kiriona.
Part of the 15th National Service Intake at Burnham Military Camp, January 1967. Served in Malaya in November 1967, and with W2 Company 1RNZIR in Vietnam from October 1968 until November 1969.
Returned to Burnham Military Camp in January 1970 with 1RNZIR Battalion Transport and was part of the military team assigned to assist police during the Jenifer Beard murder on the West Coast. Transferred to 1RNZIR Regimental Police in 1972 and served at the British Naval Base, Sembawang in Singapore from 1973 with ANZUK Force until it disbanded in 1976.
