Notes

Died in Whangaparoa. Ian Hutchins was Officer Commanding 41 Squadron while he was in Singapore. Later awarded the AFC for his service. He flew into Vietnam 34 times starting 15 October 1965 and ending 31 October 1967. 'Hutch' landed at some very remote and dangerous locations like An Khe in support of Red Cross and medical team, as well as Hue which was almost at the DMZ. He also flew the first 41 Squadron flight into Nui Dat where New Zealand infantry and artillery were based – this flight was probably a check on the runway length as it was initially very short and was later extended in July 1968 to become a main supply route for 41 Squadron.
