2NZATTV - 'Security' at Cam Ranh Bay airfield

On the day of 2NZATTV's departure from SVN, 19 Dec 72, a Montagnard soldier mans an M60 machine gun mounted on a jeep – the unit's total effort at 'securing' the twin 10,000-feet runways of a by then completely empty Cam Ranh Bay airport. The RNZAF had insisted on the 'securing of the airfield' as the B-170 Bristol Freighters usually flew into Nha Trang 30 km north, declining unit requests to use Cam Ranh Bay which was opposite Dong Ba Thin and thus very much closer.
