8-inch artillery shell belonging to the US 1st Battalion, 83rd Artillery Regiment

This 8-inch artillery shell was possibly the 10,000th fired by the US 1st Battalion, 83rd Artillery Regiment in Vietnam. It's marked 'Hey Charlie!! No 10,000'.

I wanted to make a clarification on the caption on this photo. The 10,000 did not represent our 10,000 shell fired. It was actually an attempt at GI humor. As the way the Vietnamese displayed their unhappiness at something by saying "Number 10 GI (or whom or whatever). We were just mocking that a bit here.
