Dr Vincent Keane was a member of the New Zealand Red Cross team based at Pleiku in the Central Highlands of South Vietnam in 1974. They worked predominantly with the Montagnard hill tribes, providing medical and agricultural assistance.

In this photograph, he and other Red Cross personnel pose tongue-in-cheek at a United States compound in Pleiku. From left to right: Ronald Craig (?), Mac Riding (kneeling), Dr Vincent Keane, Walter Reed Martindale (US State Department).
